Rebin, rescale, sort, and match to \( y=x \).

This function rebins, rescales, and sorts two vectors x and y in order to compare them to the line \( y=x \), returning the value of \( \chi^2 \).

Principally used by linear_or_log() .

Idea for Future:

Rename this function. It’s a bit confusing because there are no logarithms here. Maybe just rescale_fit_identity()?
